Grassroots Engagement Director, Alaska
Job Description
Your Responsibilities Include
- As our Grassroots Engagement Director, you will plan and execute a variety of activities and events to educate and bring awareness strategies that advance our priorities
- Every day you will meet with volunteers, and make plans to activate new volunteers who can help us turn policy into reality
- You will serve as a community leader by leveraging local knowledge and relationships, building partnerships to solve problems in your community
- You will work with communities of advocates to contact citizens (for example, making calls or door knocking) to educate and persuade the public to act on AFP’s priority policy initiatives
- You will recruit, hire and manage part-time canvassing employees
- If you live outside the Anchorage area, you will be expected to work two days a week in our Anchorage office
Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization
- You're able to build relationships quickly with people from all walks of life and understand how to inspire and motivate others
- You can think of new ways to achieve our goals towards better public policy and develop the detailed plans to get us there
- You have a valid driver’s license
- You are ready and willing to canvass neighborhoods and make phone calls for AFP’s priority initiatives and endorsed candidates, as well as motivate and coordinate volunteers and part-time employees to do the same
- You have demonstrated experience or capacity to learn and successfully navigate multiple online technical systems
